Lya L. Wesley – VP of Marketing
Lya Wesley is an experienced marketing strategist with a range of clients in large corporations, entertainment, non-profit and small businesses. Prior to consulting, Ms. Wesley built a successful marketing career across for profit and non-profit organizations. She has held senior-level positions at Sodexo, ARAMARK, United Way of the National Capital Area and the Council on Foundations.
Ms. Wesley used her multiple talents in branding, strategic planning and consumer insights to create the brand for her family-owned restaurant, KBQ Real Barbecue. Since opening in 2007, KBQ has been voted best ribs by the Washingtonian Magazine and maintained a strong following for ten years due to its outstanding products and continual execution of a dynamic in-store and social media marketing plan. Ms. Wesley served as Vice President of marketing for the restaurant and served as President of Firelight Foods, the manufacturing arm of her family business.
Ms. Wesley has developed a personal branding process for executives looking to define a unique personal space amid their peers. Using research, soul-searching and creativity, clients from health-care giant Baxter, Monsanto and the Girl Scouts have advanced their careers through this process.
Committed to contributing to her community, Ms. Wesley serves as a board member of The Green Scheme, a non-profit working to eliminate food deserts in the Washington DC metropolitan area, by planting urban gardens and providing access and education on nutritive foods to residents.
