Kelly Mikel Williams – Founder and CEO

Kelly Mikel Williams is the Creator, Executive Producer, and Host of Black Politics Today (BPT), radio talk show.  BPT is the only online political talk show focused on the needs and welfare of African-Americans. It is the primary source, highlighting “What’s at Stake,” for African-Americans socially, economically, and politically across the country. The Black Politics Today presents a clear understanding of the effects that public policies can have on the black community.  Black Politics Today’s mission is to educate and empower African-Americans to be better equipped to affect the changes needed for their families and communities.

Kelly Mikel Williams is a native Californian where he served as a Senior Political and Legislative Consultant to the infamous and renowned Willie L. Brown, Jr., former Speaker of the California State Legislature and Mayor of San Francisco, California. As a young politico, Kelly Mikel became a political force in California politics and was selected to come to Washington, DC and work for the Clinton Administration. During his tenure, he served at the Department of Agriculture (USDA), where he was instrumental in assisting the agency with the National Black Farmers, ultimately assisting minority farmers in participating in the agency’s $800 million school lunch, farmers markets, and export marketing programs.

Kelly Mikel was then reassigned to the White House where he was tapped to assist with various administration and political assignments.  As a result, his success was rewarded with an additional four-year term appointment to the Farm Credit Administration (FCA), as the Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Board extending his service into the first-term of President George W. Bush.

In addition, Kelly Mikel served as the Founder and agency Chapter President for Blacks In Government, an employee assistance organization, for the agency.

After leaving the federal government, and joining local government, Kelly Mikel has continued to hold a vision for opportunities for African-Americans and has sought to educate them in the areas of public and economic policies. He recently launched his website and radio talk show podcast called Black Politics Today to share with readers, viewers, and listeners the importance and the impact socially, economically, and politically that public policies are having on the African-American community. Over the years, Kelly Mikel has interviewed Minority House Democratic Leader James Clyburn, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. John Lewis, Rev. Al Sharpton, Dr. Charles Ogletree, fmr. Ambassador Suzan “SuJay” Johnson Cook, Willie Brown, Dr. Freddie B. Haynes, Rep. Robin Kelly, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, and many others.
